Make. Experiment. Belong.

Fancy being more creative but never quite get around to it?

Welcome to Creative Club - a relaxed fortnightly creative evening in Norwich for making things, trying things and spending a couple of hours being experimental with other people.

Absolutely no need to be "good at art" or have any experience.

Creativity for people who don't think they're creative.

Try things, meet people and come back and do it again.

Come on your own or with someone. Bring a bottle and snacks if you like. We'll provide everything else.

What is Artidote Creative Club?

A regular creative night in our Norwich studio for anyone 18+ who wants a little more creativity in their life - and somewhere to come and make things.

Each fortnight we'll set up the studio with a changing mix of materials, ideas and creative prompts to get you started.

You might paint, print, draw or collage. Make something slightly strange. Try a material you've never used before or get completely sidetracked and make something else entirely - that's fine.

We'll be around to help you get started, demonstrate materials where needed and offer encouragement but this isn't a formal art class and there isn't a particular result you're expected to achieve.

The point is simply to come and make something!

What happens on the night?

Choose your own creative adventure.

Come in, grab a drink, find a spot and see what we've got out on the tables.

Every Creative Club will have a starting point - perhaps a material, technique, prompt or slightly unusual creative challenge but you don't all have to make the same thing.

We'll give you enough guidance to get going and then it's up to you.

  • Follow the idea.

  • Ignore it.

  • Experiment with something new.

  • Make something brilliant.

  • Make something terrible.

  • Change your mind halfway through.

  • Carry on with something from last time.

What happens next is up to you.

Do I need to be artistic?

Absolutely not.

In fact, Creative Club is especially for people who say things like:

  • "I'm not creative."

  • "I haven't done anything like this since school."

  • "I wouldn't know what to make."

  • "I'm rubbish at art."

Perfect - you'll fit right in.

Can I come on my own?

Please do. Lots of people come to Artidote workshops on their own and Creative Club is designed to be somewhere you can turn up solo and feel comfortable.

You can chat while you make, concentrate quietly on what you're doing or a bit of both.

Hopefully, after a few visits there'll be some familiar faces around the table too.

Is it an art class? Nope!

There's no syllabus, no beginner-to-intermediate programme and no expectation that you're working towards a particular level.

We'll show you how to use the materials and help when we can, but we're not here to tell you how your art should look.

Creative Club is about creative confidence, curiosity and having somewhere to make things.

There isn't anywhere you need to get to.

Daytime Sessions

Creative Club usually happens every other Thursday evening but we know evenings don't work for everyone.

So we're also trying something new - selected Tuesday morning Creative Clubs from 10.30am-12.30pm.

  • Same Creative Club.

  • Same relaxed studio.

  • Same materials, ideas and creative prompts.

  • Just with coffee instead of BYOB.

Have Some Questions?

  • Creative Club is for anyone 18 years old and over to come and get  creative.

  • That's up to you. We'll have a changing selection of materials, ideas and simple prompts ready to help you get started. You can follow one of our ideas, experiment with the materials, continue something from a previous visit or head off in a completely different direction. You don't need to arrive with an idea - we'll make sure there's plenty to get you going.

  • No, we'll have everything you need. You're welcome to bring drinks and snacks and if you've started something at a previous Creative Club you're welcome to bring that back too.

  • We are happy for you to bring your own drinks including alcohol and nibbles.

  • Absolutely. Lots of people come to our sessions on their own, it's a warm, social environment with regular opportunities for connection to help foster new friendships.

  • Artidote is situated on the 1st Floor at Capitol House which has ramp access, a lift and accessible toilet on the ground floor.

Please let us know if you require ramp access so that we can make sure it's in place before you arrive.

Customers Say...

These workshops aren’t just for artists or designers, they’re for anyone. You don’t need ‘talent,’ just an open mind and a willingness to explore. It’s a great way to break out of rigid thinking, tap into creativity and change your perspective.

Susannah

Floyd is a brilliant facilitator of creativity and fun. I really surprised myself at the various workshops I’ve attended with what I could create. It really helped me overcome the idea that I wasn’t any good at art and I learnt a lot about myself at the same time.

Diana

This is a workshop everyone should try. The design legend Malcolm Garrett once lamented about arts education that ‘at the age of five everyone paints - but later in life no one paints’. Artidote will help fix that - take part and surprise yourself.
