Our painting workshops are relaxed, social and made for beginners. From expressive portraits and freestyle flowers to experimenting with acrylics and watercolour, we give you a place to start and plenty of freedom to make it your own.
Some people call it Sip & Paint. We think of it as a couple of hours to switch off, pick up a brush and see what happens.
Come with friends. Make it a date. Or come on your own.
No experience needed. All materials provided. BYOB if you fancy.

Forget perfect likenesses. Our portrait painting workshops are about exploring faces through colour, shape and expressive brushstrokes.
We'll give you a place to start, a few simple techniques and help when you need it.
The rest is up to you.

What to expect
A couple of hours to slow down and do something different.
We'll show you some simple techniques and give you a place to start, but there's no pressure to follow exactly. Some people like a bit of structure. Others go off in their own direction. Both are welcome.
Acrylics. Watercolours. Brushes. Colour. Different marks and ways of working.
We'll guide you when you need it and leave you to explore when you don't.
Music on. Brushes out. Conversation flowing.
It's less about learning to paint the "right" way, more about giving yourself permission to have a go.
Never Painted Before? Good.
You don't need to be "good at art" to come to an Artidote painting workshop.
Lots of people arrive saying they can't paint, they can't draw or they haven't picked up a brush since school. That's fine.
We keep things relaxed, supportive and social. No jargon. No judgement. No pressure to make a masterpiece.
Come with friends, bring a date or turn up on your own. Just have a go you might surprise yourself.

Our painting workshops are BYOB, so you're welcome to bring wine, beer something alcohol-free and a few nibbles.
The painting is the point. The sipping is entirely optional.
